Madeira Blockchain Conference: The Legacy of Web3 Innovation in the Atlantic

Blockchain technology has ceased to be just a futuristic promise and has become a fundamental infrastructure of the digital economy. At Yacooba Labs, we are proud to have led this conversation through the Madeira Blockchain Conference (MBC), a project that, over the course of three editions, placed Madeira Island on the global map of decentralized technology.
Looking back at what we have built, visible at madeirablockchain.com, we celebrate an ecosystem that united experts, enthusiasts, and companies around the future of Web3.
The Mission: More Than Technology, Community
From the very beginning, MBC’s mission was clear: to demystify blockchain and demonstrate its real potential. The event served as a privileged meeting point to discuss not only cryptocurrencies but also the practical utility of the technology in sectors such as tourism, logistics, entertainment, and governance.
A Journey Through the Editions
The conference’s journey tracked the maturation of the market itself. Three landmark editions consolidated Yacooba Labs’ vision.
The Grand Finale: 3rd Edition (2024)
The final edition, held on November 18th and 19th, 2024, at the Centro Cultural e de Investigacao do Funchal (CCIF), ended this cycle on a high note. The focus expanded beyond pure technology, embracing the critical intersection between Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Web3.
With a robust program, the 2024 edition brought urgent topics to the stage:
- Digital Identity & Regulation: In-depth discussions on DIDs and the European regulatory landscape.
- Real-World Applications: From “Tokenization” in tourism to property management in gaming and the “Blue Economy.”
- Elite Speakers: The event featured industry leaders, including representatives from WalletConnect and xMoney, as well as the strategic vision of the Yacooba Labs team.
The Foundations (2022 and 2023)
The success of the final year was built on solid foundations:
- 2nd Edition (2023): Focused on adoption and market applications, this edition explored how blockchain can transform logistics and healthcare, showing that the technology solves real problems.
- 1st Edition (2022): The beginning of it all. The inaugural edition served to gather the tech community on the island for the first time, with the support of pioneers who believed in the project’s potential from day one.
A Chapter Closes, A Legacy Remains
The 2024 edition marked the end of the Madeira Blockchain Conference. It was an incredible journey of knowledge sharing and networking that fulfilled its purpose: to boost the local ecosystem and connect Madeira to the Web3 world.
While there are no plans for future editions, the knowledge shared is timeless. We invite everyone to visit the official website, madeirablockchain.com, where we have made this legacy available. There, you can watch videos from all editions, revisit the inspiring keynotes, and access the panel discussions that defined these three years of innovation.
Thank you to everyone who was part of this story.
